Day 2 was a long day at the Swiss Tennis National Indoor Championships in Biel; 6 matchups lasted over 3 hours respectively with a few upsets. For example, lucky loser Daniel Valent was able to beat 6th seeded Mathieu Guenat 5:7, 7:6, 7:6. On the other hand, in a very close match Alexander lost to 7th seeded Yannick Thomet 7:5, 5:7, 7:6(5)

Unlike during his 1st round win Alexander didn’t have a good start into the match (0:3 with 2 breaks down) but was able to fight his way back into the match. It continued to be a hard-fought match with opportunities on both sides. Thomet was serving for the match at 5:4 in the 2nd set and even had a match point but Alexander was able to get the break and win the 2nd set. The 3rd set was very close all the way with break chances on both sides so the tie-break had to bring about the decision and Yannick was able to close it out.
